Event Description

The Lowe Ensemble in Concert - Echoes of Spanish Baroque

Spanish Baroque music performed by the acclaimed Lowe Ensemble in the beautiful acoustics of St Mary’s Cadogan.

Join us for a journey through Spanish music of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and its influence across Europe. From the court of Louis XIV in France, through Italy and back to the Iberian Peninsula. A rich mix of vocal and instrumental works—some newly adapted for the ensemble—highlights the dialogue between national traditions, from courtly elegance to lively dances and sacred reflection.

The Lowe Ensemble are one of the most exciting, rising Baroque groups performing today, with concerts regularly selling out. The group, consisting of siblings Joseph, Gabriel, Xavier, Santiago and Myriam, with a guest appearance from Danny Murphy at the theorbo, have a passion for bringing historically informed music to life and have recently returned home to London from their UK tour 'Echoes of Spanish Baroque' which featured works by Spanish composers as well as French, Italian and English composers influenced by Spanish culture and language.

In 2025 the group released their debut video recording of 'Fandango' by Antonio Soler (1729-1783), a captivating work which bridges late Baroque and early Classical styles. In true BritishSpanish style the recording was made in London and the video shot in San Lorenzo de El Escorial, Madrid. The group performed the piece with strings, harpsichord, baroque guitar and percussion.

Door open 4:15pm, concert starts at 5pm. Following the concert there will be time for networking with a vibrant summer reception hosted in the church’s beautiful rose garden.

Tickets are limited and early booking is strongly recommended.
