Padel is the fasting growing sport in the world, anyone can learn to play and have fun, it is a very social sport, so being a very social charity we thought we’d give it a go. Beware though, once you start rumour has it that the sport is rather addictive!
The game was invented in Acapulco, Mexico in the 1960s. A similar game was also played on British cruise ships in the 1910s but that game changed direction and the two sports are now very different.
We have reserved three courts, with 4 pairs engaging in friendly competition on each. To ensure matches of equal footing, we kindly ask participants to indicate their skill level upon registration, all levels of experience welcome. Rackets can be provided if needed. All you’ll need is some good humour, a willingness to play and some sport trainers and clothing.
While we encourage attendees to join with a padel partner, individual participants are most welcome. Rest assured, we will ensure a harmonious pairing for a delightful game.
Directions: If travelling by tube, alight at East Putney station, followed by a short journey on bus 337. Alternatively, from Barnes railway station, it’s a pleasant 10-minute walk to the venue.
