July 1, 2023
BritishSpanish Society members are invited to join together on a private tour of some of Mayfair’s galleries. From 4pm to 6:30pm on 1 July we’ll visit:
Francesco Arena: There is Nothing Here
The title of the exhibition, ironically, suggests that there is nothing present, but in reality, the
exhibition is filled with various objects and elements.
“At the beginning of everything, though I put it last, in here is us, me first, you now.”
Yves Dana & Richard Höglund
Waddington Custot presents works by Egyptian-born Swiss sculptor Yves Dana
and American painter Richard Höglund, two artists complementary to one another for the
powerful simplicity of their works which are rich with historical reference.
Julian Stańczak: Beyond the Mirror
Stańczak was interested in the emotions that colour can evoke, which are personal and unique
to each viewer, hoping to provide an ultimately uplifting experience. He once said that his
style was an attempt to forget about his war traumas. “I did not want to be bombarded daily
by the past,”
Robilant + Voena
Style. A Journey of Elegance from Anthony van Dyck to Kehinde Wiley
Robilant+Voena is staging a significant exhibition of portraits, tracing the evolution of style in menswear, with a particular focus on the changing fashions of the jacket.
Nunzio’s drawings reveal an almost alchemical process that triggers an unexpected metamorphosis of the matter.
Mayfair art weekend takes place from 29 June to 1 July. 2023 sees the art focussed weekend celebrating its 10th anniversary. Its aim is simply to offer art lovers and admirers the opportunity to experience as much art in one weekend as possible.
